Programme Overview
Access to Justice remains a challenge for a number of people especially the poor and this is despite the presence of many players provide legal services. The cost of legal services has inevitably increased, making such services inaccessible to the majority. It is against this background therefore that the Access to Justice Sub Programme trains and provide support to paralegals working in the Dioceses.
Partnerships have been established with organisations that provide Legal Aid services as part of a referral system. Additionally, under this same sub programme, Caritas Zambia undertakes activities which are aimed at strengthening people’ access to land and other land services. Other activities will include policy advocacy and awareness creation on human rights.
Operational Objective 1:
To increase the number of people in selected communities in at least 5 dioceses who are able to access justice and claim their rights by the end of 2011.
