It has been noted that in nearly all Dioceses, there is inadequate formation of pastoral agents and hence the net result of failure to link faith with the social, political, cultural and economic realities. It has been observed that there is a general diminishing spirituality among the faithful. Another point worth reiterating is that most structures of the Church still depend on the faith, expertise and commitment of the priests or religious to implement. This is contrary to the teaching of the church, which stipulates an increasingly significant role of the lay faithful in the work of evangelization.
The Formation and Training Sub Programme therefore is intended to cover a number of areas that bring about an enlightened cadre of Pastoral Agents capable of serving in different capacities within the Church structures.
